The Etsy Verification Scam Reviews: Beware! Don’t Fall Victim!

Did you receive the recent trending “Etsy Verification Message” scam text that claims to come from Etsy store? Beware it’s a scam text message that leads to a phishing website were recipients personal and financial details are stolen and used used fraudulently.

Scammers are sending fake messages with scam links that leads to a site that looks like a legit page with your shop listings and shop name. Unfortunately the aim of this message is to defraud receivers.

The credit card scammer posing as “Etsy Support” send direct messages. This has been reported to Etsy. The link in message goes to what looks like a legit page with one of your shop listings and shop name – there is also a form on the left for verifying your shop with a credit card. After filling the form, they will ask for you to confirm you own the card by entering the current available balance. Followed by a pop up asking for you to enter a one-time-authorization code to complete a payment.

We noticed that they run the payments through Stripe (also reported in detail to their security team). Any cards they can’t run quick enough, all details are sent to a Telegram account (also reported) for use later.

Beware! Don’t be deceived! To avoid being scammed, recipients are advised not to click on the link, delete the text and block the sender.

The link contains spywares, malwares, viruses, that are harmful to your device and can hack and destroy your systems.

It is not advisable to follow instruction that is given but if you do it will enable the cyber criminal to gain access into your computer and also your financial/personal details. Beware!
